You need to cleanse the stones after each use or if they have been sitting unused for a period of time. If it’s a stone you wear daily it should be cleansed at least weekly. There are several ways to cleanse stones and you need to find the way that works for you. Some rinse them in running water for several minutes, or soak them in spring water with sea salt, some set them in either sunlight or moonlight for several hours and others pass them through sage smoke.

Seriously, none of the aforementioned will have any effect on them whatsoever. They’re crystals and stones: inert, unreactive and stable.

Since crystals and stones have no effect whatsoever, never.

If you still want to do it, why not rinse them in spring water, then lay them into the light of the full moon once a month.

or cense them with incense whenever they have been used.

I have a background in geomechanics. We clean our rock specimens with a solution of sodium hexametaphosphate .

I do hope you are not trying to treat a real illness with this new age crystal baloney.

Crystals should be cleanse after heavy or intense sessions. Some require every day or even after a couple of hours, some require only periodic cleansing. It really depends on you and the stone. If a stone feels “heavy”, if you are suddenly repulsed by it cleanse it. If in doubt, cleanse your stones. They won’t be hurt by it.

Please note, it is very important when cleansing crystals and minerals to take care what you put in water or salt water! Many minerals will be permanently damaged by water, not to mention that some could leach harmful minerals into the soaking water.

Here’s a list of stones to use with caution, these stones should NOT get we either:

My best recommendation is to use selenite, it is quick and easy, and you will never have to worry about damaging your stone! You just need to rest your stones or jewelry items on the selenite.
