Auras on SciFi Network’s “Proof Positive”

Auras and Aura Imaging are once again prominently shown on the SciFi Network TV program, “Proof Positive”. Incidentally, auras were the one story that was “proof positive”-ly true! Guy Coggins, president of Aura Imaging and inventor of WinAura and the Aura Camera is interviewed in this braodcast.

the traits apply on everyone, since they are all good and they all have qualities that we regonize of ourselfs :/

  2. thinker900Apr 21, 2010

I agree 85%(which is all that is needed to prove something scientifically). I think that shows like these aren’t really made to break down truth about aura. That is, if it exists. I for one think that there may be some evidence, but shows like this only serve to make more skeptical and continue western or westernized mainstream science into more bias. Which I think will only lead to far less serious research.

man I really wish they would try to be more objective when exploring the unknown. I love stuff like this, but why on earth would you ask someone who already believes in auras to tell you if a psychic aura reader read yours right? Of course they’ll say yes. Why wouldn’t you ask the families and friends and maybe even people who only barely know them if they think it’s right? Studies like this are why every scientific discovery starts out as an outrage.

    @ebrobaru

    A fool and his money….. 🙂

  10. ebrobaruApr 21, 2010

basenz, excellent explanation. Unfortunately believers are very hard headed and even with a good rational explanation like yours, they just wont admit that they are being duped

  11. basenzApr 21, 2010

Kirlian photograghy or bioelectrography effectivley measures persperation. What is actually being photographed is a corona plasma discharge.you perspire more when you are anxious or kissing hence the change in the photo. more water vapour = bigger aura …. as for the leaf when you put the leafe down and then rip a bit of it is just residual water vapour. if you rip a leaf of a tree and then photograph it why doesnt the tree show up?
Dont let these con artist take your hard earned cash!

Why are all the color readings about vague, positive qualities? She was following their body cues during her “reading.” The readings should have been written first. Then the volunteers should have picked which reading they felt best described them, and only then learn if the reading was actually from their own aura.

  13. ebrobaruApr 21, 2010

    How is that logical?

  14. pwpg0516Apr 21, 2010

it is logical that the auras color change based on the emotional state… Atthe end they are vibrations and these vibrations depending on the wave length become one color ofr the other

SciFi has the word “Fiction” in it 🙂

  16. shadowmare365Apr 21, 2010

    F*** auras
Theyre just retinal fatigue and other natural phenominons

If you can see auras you may have a brain or eye disorder see your doctor

  17. ebrobaruApr 21, 2010

A “true” reader? What would be the difference?

  18. defguyApr 21, 2010

That lady reading the colors must be a sham, a true reader would look at the person and say all the qualities they see in that person. This woman just has color personality traits memorized, you can look them up online. This show would be much better if a “real” aura reader did the readings

  19. defguyApr 21, 2010

I agree. I had this incident with a college professor a few days ago. I asked for if there was any science to back up his claims that his theory was correct and he said “I showed you in the story i just told you.” I believed what he said, I just wanted more proof for the skeptics. However, when he refuses to offer more evidence it makes the believers skeptical. If you truly believe in it, then you should be looking for proof that it is in fact real.

  20. defguyApr 21, 2010

That is true, but I am not quite sure how you can prove that you can see auras. If however you possess psychic abilities such as mind reading or the ability to move objects or talk with the dead, that can be proven and you will get $1,000,000. I am open to the existence of psychics, however I do wonder why no one has ever taken the challenge.

  21. ebrobaruApr 21, 2010

No, no. You can´t prove a negative. If someone claims that he can see auras, then it´s up to him to prove it. Not the other way around. Ever heard of “burden of proof”?

  22. BroadsiderApr 21, 2010

Why “of course not” You should give evidence for such a strong view. Just as these people are trying to find evidence to support the ideas if the existence of auras.

  23. ebrobaruApr 21, 2010

of course not. It´s just wishful thinking

  24. Gomego87Apr 21, 2010

So, Does an aura really work?
