why is number 11 a special number in numerology?

I heard that in numerology and parapsychology number 11 is a special number, treated differently by numerology, as well as number 23. If you are born on these dates, or if you are born in November you are seen like special. Does anyone know why? does anyone know more details?

  1. I think you have to know the significance of the number you get when you add those together. 11 is llike 1 plus 1 , so 2. And 2 has a special meaning or something I guess.

  2. That’s all superstition. Just because a number gives you a different feeling (if it for some reason does) doesn’t mean it has some magical powers.

You can’t scribe number 13 one each and everything that you ever see and your luck will still not change.
Everyone will find you crazy, though.

  3. I heard Chinese people like 8. 11 reminds me of two phallic symbols. Which is every man’s secret dream now isn’t it?

  4. Number 11 is a master number because it has two same digits such as 22, 33 and so on; Usually in numerology you would narrow down the numbers to two digit for example 11 should be 2, but master numbers are usually not narrowed down because they are powerful numbers. Number 11 is the number of spirituality. Usually people who have 11 as their Lifepath number or Destiny number are usually either very psychic, intuitive or spiritual.

  5. Virgo hit the nail on the head.

11 is a double digit and is therefore considered a Master or Power Number. In Numerology 11 represents impractical idealism, visionary, refinement of ideals, intuition, revelation, artistic and inventive genius, avant-garde, androgynous, film, fame, refinement fulfilled when working with a practical partner. Eleven is a higher octave of the number two . It carries psychic vibrations and has an equal balance of masculine and feminine properties. Because eleven contains many gifts such as psychic awareness and a keen sense of sensitivity, it also has negative effects such as treachery and betrayal from secret enemies. Some metaphycists believe that 11:11 is a DNA activation code as well.

  6. Numbers and You

DO NUMBERS have hidden meaning? “Of course!” some exclaim, pointing to an intriguing example—the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

“The moment I heard the news,” says one numerologist, “I noticed the date: 9-11-2001.” The number 11 is generally considered to be one of the “master numbers” by numerologists. So numerology enthusiasts have compiled a list of various items related to the terrorist attack that point to the “master number” 11. This is just a portion of what they found:

    ▪ The tragedy occurred on the date 9/11. 9 + 1 + 1 = 11.

    ▪ September 11 was the 254th day of the year. 2 + 5 + 4 = 11.

    ▪ The airplane that hit the north tower was Flight 11.

    ▪ That flight had 92 people on board. 9 + 2 = 11.

    ▪ The airplane that hit the south tower had 65 passengers. 6 + 5 = 11.

    ▪ The Twin Towers resembled the number 11.

    ▪ In English the expression “New York City” has 11 letters.

Numerology—in which special significance is attached to figures, their combinations, and numerical totals—has been a widespread practice in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Why the allure? According to one Web site, decoding the letters of the alphabet used in names—one popular aspect of numerology—“yields accurate information concerning personality, nature, qualities and shortcomings.” According to this source, studying our “date of birth uncovers our life path, with its joys and trials.”

Are these claims true? Or could there be hidden dangers in the metaphysical study of numbers?
