Is the Pirates of the Caribbean version of the goddess Calypso accurate?

In the movie, they make Calypso out to be a sea goddess who is very whimsical & seductive. They make her out to be very vengeful in the end as well. By mythology standards, is this an accurate portrayal of the goddess?

  1. No, she was a nymph and her power was the force that moved tides and waves.
The sea itself is and has been considered female, with cruel or pleasant attributes, most ships were built with this view in mind as ancient mariners wanted to appease her and have a safe voyage.
