How much dry herbs compared to fresh?

How much dry herbs do you use compared to fresh? For instance I’m making a marinade for a pork roast. It calls for 2 Tbl spoons fresh rosemary. How much dry should I use? (I know fresh would be better but I cant drive into town tonight) Thanks.

  1. The basic conversion for fresh to dry is 1 Tablespoon of fresh equals 1 Teaspoon of Dried. Since the dried have less water and the flavor is more concentrated, it makes sense to use less. For your recipe, use 2 teaspoons of dried rosemary.

  2. One third. As the guy said above me, if it calls for one tablespoon (15 ml), use one teaspoon (5ml)
