Kelmscott Manor – William Morris’ summer home.

Barbara Castle (former Secretary of State for Social Services) visits the home of designer and fellow socialist William Morris. Kelmscott Manor in Oxfordshire was Willam and Jane (Janey) Morris’ summer home from 1871, which was leased jointly with painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti. It was also where Morris’ children, May and Jenny, continued to live into the 20th century. The house is now open to the public: www.kelmscottmanor.org.uk. From One Foot in the Past c.1996.
