How much is a Ralph Waldo Emerson signed book worth?

I have a very old copy of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s book ‘Compensation’ and it is from the very early 1900’s, possibly the late 1800’s. The book is signed on the first page by Ralph Waldo Emerson. It has his signature, and something else he wrote that I can’t quite make out. Does anyone have any idea what the value of this book may be? Or somewhere I can get it appraised? Thanks so much. 1. It depends alot on the condition of the book. A falling apart book with something that looks like a signature wouldn’t be worth a whole lot but a book in good condition that is obviously signed by him could be worth a good fortune. A letter signed by Ralph Waldo Emerson is going on Ebay right now for 15,000 dollars and an unsigned Compensation is going for 105$. Good Luck

  2. I’ll buy it for $20. 🙂

Well, if you won’t accept my very generous offer, you could auction it. You’d be looking for historical America or “Americana” actions. I found one out of Ohio. You can google one close to you, or you can travel to NY for the biggest auctions.
