Words of wisdom from Emerson’s “Self-Reliance”. BTW, this is a new take – with new pictures – on my other video of the same name. Enjoy.

  1. @englishcompII Some quotes were shortened to make them fit in better in the Emerson videos. Thanks for your kind comment:-)

  2. Beautiful video. The quote should be “To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men—that is genius.” So many of us today prescribe to our “own” truths instead of believing them to be universal. Great work!

  3. Reading Emerson for the first time… An amazing thinker indeed. Emerson reminds me a tad of Thomas Paine. They are similar in their somewhat rebellious and independent ideals..

  4. Bravo!! Thanks so much for putting this together. I was touched. Many Blessings to you, my friend.

  5. @sailbeyondthesunset Great to hear, my friend. The power of Emerson’s words never cease to amaze me. All the best:-)

  6. Discovered in the 21stC: The Underlying Law of Nature.

The underlying law of nature may be the world’s most useful, profitable and encouraging knowledge.

The top 3 General Characteristics of The underlying law of nature are:

#1. The Way of All Things

#2. The Basis of All Laws and Principles

#3. The Basis of All Health, Growth, Efficacy and Efficiency

    Google it–as a start.

The empirical process for identifying the underlying law of nature was discovered in 2008.

Soon, we may all do so.

  7. As steeped as America is in Christianity, there’s something inherent in the American spirit that is individualistic, freedom-loving, freethinking, creative, and even somewhat pantheistic. Emerson, Thoreau, and their peers tapped into this, and I think it’s a shame more Americans aren’t familiar with their philosophy, which speaks so profoundly to the American sensibility.

  8. Ashiman12, I could not have said it any better myself, yep it is a great tragedy that the majorty of americans do not know of their heritage or that it even exists..

  9. “Emerson. Thoreau. Whitman. The holy trinity of the American philosophy and spirituality”.

Howdy, I could not have said it any better myself, yep it is a great tragedy that the majorty of americans do not know of their heritage or that it even exists..

  10. Emerson. Thoreau. Whitman. The holy trinity of the American philosophy and spirituality. Emerson was the prophet, the way-maker, the teacher. Thoreau was the monk, the ascetic, the hermit-saint who put the ideas into practice. Whitman was the poet who gave them voice and rang the skies with it. Sad that so few Americans know of the spiritual heritage that waits right under their nos, though it waits at the back of their minds.

  11. You don’t need to give God alot of yourself in faith, in order for him to do great and incredible things through you, the faith of a mustard seed brings forth a abundant crop of harvest, sow that you may reap in due season and let God do the rest.

  12. I believe Emerson means that we should trust in our own divine soul, for that is what we truly are … divine spirits of immense beauty, knowledge and light.
