What is your take on this quote and the future or religion?

Question by The Reaper: What is your take on this quote and the future or religion?
“The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend a personal God and avoid dogmas and theology. Covering both natural and spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual and a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description. If there is any religion that would cope with modern scientific needs, it would be Buddhism.”

  1. Remember, religion is a set of man-made rules for acheiving a better afterlife. A personal relationship with the Creator of the universe is not necessarily a religion.

Does Buddhism address the issue of sin? There is evil in the world. How would Buddism correct for evil? Does it include forgiveness? Punishment? Justice? Mercy?

Ultimately, science is simply uncovering what the creator hid.

  2. There is a supreme being who will love you and accept you when you pass over into the next life. All the trappings of this life will be cleared when your mind is opened and you soul has been expanded and unity then will be achieved.

  3. The transition from Newtonian view of the world must have reminded everyone that words, math, and models are just representations of reality. We cannot foist our preconceptions on the world and expect them to be accurate. The world is never just this or just that. The world reminds us that our models of reality are never complete. They always deserve more scrutiny.

A personification/personal God just doesn’t seem correct to me. A new view of God and the world is needed. Buddhism is a good fit because it does not get stuck on preconceptions. A major premise in Buddhism is that suffering in the world is caused by attachment, whether those attachments are material things or ideas.

  4. Agree …but not for me…I adhere to my way of life…love yourself first then all others that deserve it..lol
