What are the definitions of “atheist”, “spiritual” and “Pagan”?

Question by .: What are the definitions of “atheist”, “spiritual” and “Pagan”?
I am constantly informed that it is not possible to be spiritual or Pagan if you are an atheist.

It’s the oddest thing, but I can not for the life of me find a dictionary that defines atheist as “Someone who is not spiritual” or “Someone who is not a Pagan”.

However the numerous people here who inform me in questions, answers or private emails that an atheist can neither be spiritual nor Pagan seem to have read such a dictionary.

I would be grateful if someone could direct me to that dictionary so that I may read the definitions myself.

Augh, can we just leave out the pagan definition? It has way too many variable sects and interpretations, it’s ridiculous.

Atheism is simple, bare-bones court-of-law logic. Lack of evidence = no dice.

Fail to prove a soul, god, deity, or anything of the super natural and expect a big fat NO.

  1. Atheists believe in no god, but most Pagans believe in a god if not several gods. (I’m a pagan (Wiccan) and I can tell you I have at least 20-50 gods I invoke). You can be spiritual if you’re an Atheist because if you’re Buddhist, you’re not worshipping a god, you’re following someone’s idea…but that is just my personal opinion. I hope that helped!

  2. Atheists, in the broadest possible sense, are people who lack a belief in gods. It says nothing about being “spiritual”, whatever that means. “Pagan” is a little trickier, as shown by dic.com:

    1. one of a people or community observing a polytheistic religion, as the ancient Romans and Greeks.
    2. a person who is not a Christian, Jew, or Muslim.
    3. an irreligious or hedonistic person.

It’s been used as a slur, to denote someone outside of the Abrahamic beliefs (that’s a lot of people), and the classical polytheists. I would say that if you believe in one of the old gods, you’re not an atheist. But if you practice the religion for whatever reason without taking the gods seriously, then you could be.

  3. atheist: someone who doesn’t believe in God
    spritual: Buddhist, maybe? worships spirits
    Pagan: druids (Celtic?)

  4. Pagan is typically defined as any religion other than the three Abrahamic religions, Judaism, Christianity, Islam. Spiritual is similar to religious but generally refers to the things in religion and not the religion in itself, basically religion without a structure. an atheist is a lack of belief in spiritual beings; gods, goddesses, ghosts, spirits, etc. so technically an atheist cant be spiritual, but can be Pagan as there are certain pagan religions that do not have that spiritual side
