New Memoir Suggests the Restorative Power of Spiritual Healing

TENAFLY, N.J. (PRWEB) February 13, 2012

Alternative healing methods polarize the medical community. Many doctors are still skeptical or critical of methods that dont fall within mainstream medicine and treatments. The Los Angeles Times recently ran Funding of Alternative Treatments Questioned, an article which presented arguments from doctors and scientists speaking out against the research into alternative healing methods being done by the National Institutes of Health. Seeking to legitimize the role of spiritual, psychological and energy healing in treating diseases, Laura Mayer delivers her new book Unlocking the Invisible Child: A Journey from Heartbreak to Bliss (published by Balboa Press), a memoir of her own battle with a life-threatening disease.

In Unlocking the Invisible Child, Mayer shares her remarkable journey, beginning with being diagnosed with Anterior Horn Cell Disease, a crippling and supposedly fatal disease, at 14. She chronicles the 40-year course of the disease, along with her multistage self-healing process. She suggests anyone can take a similar journey to heal their own life through unlocking the invisible child inside them. Mayer believes that all the medicine in the world could not have healed her had she not gone deeper and unlocked the invisible child within.

Mayer says her gifts and greatest joys are in opening peoples hearts and empowering others to be fully seen, fully heard and fully present a goal she hopes to accomplish for readers by sharing her own experiences in Unlocking the Invisible Child.

New York Times bestselling author of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom and The Wisdom of Menopause Christiane Northrup says, Unlocking the Invisible Child is a riveting account of what true healing is all about. It is must-reading for all who seek wholeness.”
