my mom has a stone from alaska called an apache tear, what is the legend about them, and also do they have any metaphysical significance?
Answer by Tim M
An Apache Tear is a small fragment of Obsidian which is usually opaque and either black, grey or brown. It got its name from a tribe of Apaches that were in a battle with the U.S. cavalry and as they were faced with defeat, instead of being killed or taken alive they road their horses off the side of a cliff and died. Their families were said to of cried and as their tears hit the ground they turned to stone.
“Obsidian was revered by ancient cultures. It was one of the major barter materials, and prized for its ability to be worked to razor-sharp edges for arrows and spears. It has been used since prehistoric times for making tools, masks, weapons, mirrors and jewelry.
Healing properties of Obsidian
Obsidian helps to protect the very sensitive against depression. It is the stone of the soft hearted and gentle people of the world. Use obsidian to help block negativity of any kind.
