  • Inspiration Turned to Action and Writing

    Albion, RI (PRWEB) October 18, 2011

    Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, As long as a man stands in his own way, everything seems to be in his way. With inspiration from famed authors such as Robert Frost, Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, Don J. Metivier now pens his own philosophical observations through verse in Poems from the Mind of a Madman: Passionate Works of Poetry For Modern Times (published by AuthorHouse).

    From lifes little curiosities to major ongoing world conditions, my writings will provide the reader with an opportunity for greater personal reflection, says Metivier.

    From Poems from the Mind of a Madman:

    Choices

    Most of the time, they are good

    We made all the lifes choices we could

    But, when did you last take a look?

    Checkmates at hand when the pawn beats the rook

    Falling from grace, is the angels fate

    Never reaching the magic of Heavens gate

    How about you, will you choose right, and are you worth it?

    Did you go through life honest, or did you fake it?

  • Linda Sauget Offers New Book of Inspirational Quotes

    Davie, Fla. (PRWEB) October 26, 2011

    The law of attraction, a new metaphysical idea, gained substantial media attention with the film and subsequent book The Secret, a cultural phenomenon fueled by Oprah Winfreys endorsement. The general idea of this philosophy is that positive thoughts bring about positive results and that people get the things they want if they imagine having them. Offering her own take on the law of attraction, Linda Sauget delivers If You Think It (published by Balboa Press), her new book of quotes which define the philosophy she has used to achieve happiness and prosperity in her life.

    Sauget says, The single most important determinant in creating a quality life, achieving success in any endeavor, and living the life of your dreams, is simply this: each thought has the power to impact your life positively or negatively and at every moment you decide. Adding validity to her statements, she presents a number of quotes from such notable people as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Charles Darwin, Blaise Pascal, Henry Ford and Abraham Lincoln.

    The famous quotes are gathered into three sections: thought, belief and manifestation. Sauget introduces each section, briefly describing her philosophy and perspective, and offers inspirational thoughts and commentary. She writes that, We can choose our thoughts, reactions, and attitudes. We can choose what goals we have and what actions we take to achieve them.

    An ideal, thought-provoking coffee-table book, If You Think It will inspire discussion while prompting readers to consider their outlook on life.

    About the Author

    Linda Sauget grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and received her masters degree from the University of Illinois. She lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she is the vice president of a healthcare consulting firm, active member of Toastmasters International and a naturally optimistic, positive thinker.

  • Words by ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Hamatreya”

    Earth laughs in flowers. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Hamatreya”

    Earth-Song

    ‘Mine and yours;
    Mine, not yours, Earth endures;
    Stars abide–
    Shine down in the old sea;
    Old are the shores;
    But where are old men?
    I who have seen much,
    Such have I never seen.

    ‘The lawyer’s deed
    Ran sure,
    In tail,
    To them, and to their heirs
    Who shall succeed,
    Without fail,
    Forevermore.

    ‘Here is the land,
    Shaggy with wood,
    With its old valley,
    Mound and flood.
    “But the heritors?–
    Fled like the flood’s foam.
    The lawyer, and the laws,
    And the kingdom,
    Clean swept herefrom.

    ‘They called me theirs,
    Who so controlled me;
    Yet every one
    Wished to stay, and is gone,
    How am I theirs,
    If they cannot hold me,
    But I hold them?’

    When I heard the Earth-song,
    I was no longer brave;
    My avarice cooled
    Like lust in the chill of the grave.

    1846
